ASHLAND, Ore. -- The Southern Oregon University Raider men's basketball team shot a sizzling 35-61 from the field, including 10 3-pointers, en route to a 91-74 Cascade Conference win over the visiting Corban College Warriors from Salem.

Corban got off to a quick 4-0 start but when Eli Thornton hit a jumper to give SOU a 5-4 lead the Raiders would never trail again. The 91-point performance was SOU's best offensive output of the year. Six players scored in double figures, also a season high. Leading the offensive output was senior Matt Cowell, who dumped in 18 point, including four  long-range bombs. Josh McDermott added 17 more, including three from long range.

Also scoring in double figures for SOU were Ryon Pool, Nate Rooney and Eli Thornton, each of whom finished with 12 points. Trenton Fraser contributed 11 points. SOU shot 19-30 in the first half in building  a 48-41 lead.

After Matt Cowell made three free throws the Raiders led 48-32 with 2:59 remaining. The Warriors then went on a 9-0 run to end the half with Paul Martin hitting three baskets and Kyle Masten hit a three pointer and once 16 point lead was down to 7 in just three minutes.

The second half saw the Warriors come out cold while SOU found the three point range and in the first five minutes built their biggest lead of the game at 64-42 when McDermott hit a three pointer. The lead would never go into single digits the rest of the night.

Corban was led in scoring by Paul Martin with 14, Wade Douglas 11 as did Ben Sisler and Hannes Gehring added 10. The Warriors shot 28-64 for the game or 43%.

The improves SOU to 9-20 on the season and 5-14 in Cascade Conference play with one game to go. Corban fell to 10-19 on the season aand 5-14 in league play and are tied with SOU for 9th place in the conference. Corban plays at Oregon Tech tomorrow night while SOU hosts Concordia. The Raiders 25-4 on the season remained unbeaten at home 13-0 for the year.
