Cody Aker poured in 30 points in CU's upset win over Oregon Tech.
Concordia Shocks No. 4 Oregon Tech
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. -- Oregon Tech could not find a rhythm on the offensive end tonight, as Concordia upset the No. 4 ranked Hustlin’ Owls 71-67 here at Danny Miles Court. This is only the second loss at home on the season and drops the Owls to 24-5 and 15-4 in CCC play. Concordia improved to 15-13 and 11-8 in CCC action.
Oregon Tech got up by as many as five points early but went cold and trailed going into the locker room 27-26, as CU held Tech to only 38.7% from the field in the first half. The CU defense was swarming most of the night and the cold shooting would continue as Concordia pushed the lead to double digits on a Cody Aker 3-pointer with 13:40 remaining, to go up 47-37. Tech would then use a 9-0 run to cut the CU lead to only one at 47-46. Two CU free throws got the lead back to three but another Aker 3-pointer, after Tech pulled back to within one, would give CU a four point lead. Tech could pull no closer than four points for the rest of the game and fall to CU by the final of 71-67.
Oregon Tech had three players in double figures led by a game high 12 from Ryan Beesley (Jr. Rotorua, NZ). Myles Daley (So. Medford, OR) finished with 11 points in only 13 minutes, with Ryan Fiegi (Sr. Medford, OR) dropping in 10 points and grabbing a team high eight rebounds. Fiegi also finished with a game high eight assists.
The Owls had no answer for Cody Aker, who finished the night 10-18 from the field, hitting five 3-pointers and 5-6 from the line, on his way to a game high 30 points and nine rebounds. Ryan Murray was the only other Cavalier in double figure points with 17 in the win.
Tech will play their last regular season contest Saturday versus Corban College before hosting a first round CCC playoff game on Wednesday 2/27 at Danny Miles Court. Both games will begin at 7:30 p.m.
