KLAMATH FALLS, Or. -- The Oregon Tech Lady Owls assured themselves a first-round home playoff game after defeating Concordia University 58-50 here at Danny Miles Court.  Tech improves to 21-8 and 13-6 in the CCC while CU drops to 15-14 and 11-8.  Tech secured the No. 4 seed with Concordia getting the No. 5 seed in the CCC playoffs, which puts both teams facing each other again on Tuesday in round one.

 

Amanda Johnston (Jr. Myrtle Point, OR) hit for 17 first half points that kept Tech up by as many as seven points with CU heading to the locker room down six 34-28.  In the second half Tech could not push the lead past six points and with 10:44 on the clock, CU would tie the game and then take a two point lead at 49-47 with 6:09 remaining.  With 5:29 left, Jenni Miiller (Sr, Boise, ID) would hit her third 3-pointer of the game to give the lead back to Tech 50-49 and with just 3:10 left, another Miiller 3-pointer put Tech up 54-49.  Tech would close out the game in the final two minutes and go on to win by the final of 58-50.

 

Amanda Johnston led all scorers with a game high 21 points.  Jenni Miiller finished with 16 points with both Cora McVey (Sr. Dexter, OR) and Crystal Trout (So. Reno, NV) hitting for eight points each.  Meagan Miyasaka (Jr. Honolulu, HI) did not score tonight, but grabbed a game high 10 rebounds and handed out three assists.

 

Concordia’s Sarah Eischen was the only Cavalier in double digit points, dropping in 14 points on 5-5 from the field and 4-5 from the free throw line. 

 

Tech will play their final regular season game Saturday versus Corban College and then play Concordia again on Tuesday in the first round of the CCC playoffs.
