The College of Idaho softball team continued their dominance over Canyon County rival Northwest Nazarene, sweeping a doubleheader from the Crusaders, 2-0 and 9-4, at Halle Field in Nampa.

The victories for the No. 14 ranked Lady Yotes (5-2) extended their win over their neighbors to seven in a row, and upped their all-time series lead to 27-7.

Game 1 was dominated by Katie Zillner, as the right-hander tossed a three-hit shutout, walking two and striking out 11 in the victory.

The C of I got both runs in the fourth inning as Haley Butcher led off with a single and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. Brooke Judy then struck out, but the ball was dropped by catcher Kate Free, who tossed the ball into centerfield trying to pick off Butcher - allowing her to score from second. Kalie Kurdy followed with an RBI double to cap the scoring.

Game 2 was a tight affair, as the Yotes held a slim 2-1 lead heading into the sixth. But The C of I got a leadoff homer from Stacy Smith and added two more runs on NNU (0-6) miscues. In the seventh, the Yotes got an RBI single from Donnae Carrell and a three-run homer from Sammy Dodge to make it 9-1. The Crusaders would get three in the seventh, but it wasn't enough.

Judy went the distance to pick up her second win of the season, allowing six hits and three earned runs. Dodge, Kurdy, and Nicole Antonoplos each had two hits in the nightcap for the Yotes.

The C of I returns to action on Saturday, traveling to NCAA Division I Utah Valley at noon.
