Yotes Get Preseason Nod to Capture CCC Baseball Crown
PORTLAND, Ore. – The College of Idaho baseball is this year’s choice to capture the Cascade Collegiate Conference championship, according to preseason voting by the league’s head coaches.
After a runner-up finish in last year’s NAIA Region I Tournament to eventual NAIA champion Lewis-Clark State College, The College of Idaho’s baseball team looks to return as the CCC champion once again. The Yotes received three of the four first-place votes and the top spot in the preseason poll. Coach Shawn Humberger’s squad finished the 2007 campaign with a 31-17 record, including an 18-6 tally again the rest of the NAIA Region I and 15-3 versus CCC opponents.
Right behind the Coyotes were the Warriors of Corban College (14-33-1, 6-12 CCC ’07). Second-year head coach Nate Mayben’s squad received the other first-place vote.
The Concordia University Cavaliers (18-31, 10-18) and the Owls of Oregon Tech (10-28, 5-13) round out this year’s preseason poll.
