College of Idaho Picked to Win CCC Softball Crown
PORTLAND, Ore. – The College of Idaho softball team is this year’s choice to capture the Cascade Collegiate Conference championship, according to preseason voting by the league’s head coaches.
Just like their baseball counterparts, the softball version of the College of Idaho Coyotes is the favorite of the league’s head coaches to repeat as CCC champions. The Yotes captured all seven first-place votes.
College of Idaho head coach Al Mendiola returns 15 players from the 2007 CCC championship team that went 37-12 overall and 16-4 in Cascade Conference play.
The Yotes were followed by Oregon Tech (32-12-1, 12-8 CCC ’07) and Concordia University (21-15, 12-8). Both teams ended the 2007 season tied for second in the standings.
Rounding out this year’s poll were Southern Oregon (14-28, 9-11), Eastern Oregon (19-24, 7-13), Northwest Christian (13-25, 1st year with CCC), and Corban College (8-34-1, 4-16).
