Coyote Softball Ranked No. 14 in Preseason Poll
CALDWELL, Idaho -- The defending Cascade Conference champion College of Idaho softball team will begin the season nationally-ranked for the first time in program history, as the NAIA Preseason Top-25 Coaches Poll was released this afternoon in Kansas City, Mo.
The Lady Yotes (37-12 in 2007) begin the 2008 season right where they left off last season, ranked No. 14 in the nation - equaling their highest ranking ever. The C of I did receive their highest number of voter points (146) in program history.
Defending NAIA champion, Oklahoma City, is ranked No. 1, followed by Cal Baptist, Point Loma Nazarene, Trevecca Nazarene, and Simon Fraser. Oregon Tech is the only other CCC team in the poll, but relagated to the others receiving votes category.
The C of I, which returns three All-Region players, including Region I Player of the Year, Katie Zillner, opens up the season in two weeks at the Priscilla Benham Classic in California.
