Eastern Women Win Third Straight
LA GRANDE, Ore. - The Eastern Oregon University women continued their hot play on Saturday as they won their third straight game, this time over Corban College 72-54.
The first couple of minutes of the game went back and forth, but as the Mountaineers have done in their previous two games they pulled away from the Warriors and led 39-27 at the half. It was much of the same in the second half as the Warriors never pulled within single digits of EOU.
Breana Olson led the Mounties in scoring with 16 points on 6 for 8 shooting. Salena Leavitt added 12 points and dished out nine assists for Eastern. Eight different players scored for EOU in the win, including four in double figures. The Mountaineers received another valiant effort from the bench as they scored 25 points.
Corban struggled shooting throughout the night as they shot a mere 20 for 61 from the field (32 percent). Jessica Steigleman led the Warriors in scoring with 21 points on 8 of 16 shooting from the field.
EOU improves to 21-3 overall and 14-2 in conference with the win. Corban College drops to 8-18 overall and 4-12 in conference. Next up for the Mounties is at Northwest on February 15. The last meeting between the two teams Eastern won 73-46.
