PORTLAND, Ore.— Prep golfers Holly Speer of Hockinson High School (Brush Prairie, Wash.) and Sara Taylor of Skyview High School (Vancouver, Wash.) have signed to continue their education and compete on the links for Concordia University, head coach Ronn Grove announced today.

In their fifth season as a collegiate program, the Concordia women are currently ranked No. 14 in the NAIA and have made the NAIA national championships three straight seasons.

Speer is a four-time letterwinner in golf for Hockinson High School, posting a district championship as a junior after a ninth-place result as a sophomore. Speer turned those performances into an eighth-place finish at state last season, a three-spot improvement from the previous year.

Holly is the daughter of Darla and Donald Speer. She plans to major in business.

“Holly possesses outstanding potential and will bring to the team an immediate scoring consistency,” Grove said. “She has very good fundamentals, decent length off the tee and a very good short to mid-iron game.”

Taylor has been a member of the Skyview High School golf team since her freshman year, earning two all-conference accolades for the Storm and capturing a district championship in 2007.

Sara is the daughter of Traci and Greg Taylor and plans to major in business at Concordia.

“Sara is strong and powerful,” Grove said. “She possesses a good long game and has an excellent fundamental golf swing that will provide her with a consistency level we are looking for.”
