SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Eastern Oregon University’s women’s basketball team mirrored the first-round success of its campus counterpart Thursday night, defeating Cardinal Stritch (Wis.) 52-49 at the 2008 NAIA Division II championships here.

EOU will now face Black Hills State (S.D.) in the second round Friday night at 7:15 p.m. PT. The Mountaineers’ men’s program, playing at the NAIA Division II tournament in Point Lookout , Mo., won its first-ever postseason national tournament game Wednesday night and will face College of the Ozarks Friday at 5:30 p.m. PT in a second-round matchup.

Sheena Henderson and Elise Hawes led the way for the Mountaineer women's team, with both turning in double/doubles. Henderson had 14 points and 13 rebounds, Hawes had 10 points and 11 rebounds.

EOU, the Cascade Conference's regular season co-champion, improved to 25-5. Cardinal Stritch dropped to 26-5.
