EOU Falls in 2nd Round of NAIA Tournament

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – One day after posting the biggest win in school history, Eastern Oregon saw its season come to an end in the second round of the NAIA Division II women’s basketball tournament, falling 63-48 to Black Hills State (S.D.).

The Lady Mountaineers, regular season co-champions of the Cascade Conference, finished their season 25-6. EOU opened the tourney with a 52-49 victory Thursday night over Cardinal Stritch (Wis.).

Sheena Henderson led the way for EOU, totaling 13 points and seven rebounds. Jenny Fiso added 11 points and Tiffanie Ulmer chipped in 10. Black Hills State was led by Lacey Haughian, who had a game-high 21 points. Eastern Oregon shot just 32 percent from the field and 22 percent from beyond the arc.

The game was tied at 21 before Black Hills State scored the final nine points of the first half to take a 30-21 lead into the break. Eastern would get no closer than seven points the rest of the way.
