C of I Softball's Zillner, Villyard Sweep Softball Player of the Week Awards

PORTLAND, Ore. – Katie Zillner and Dani Villyard of the College of Idaho have been named the Cascade Collegiate Conference Softball Pitcher and Player of the Week, respectively, the league office announced Monday.

Zillner, a 5-9 senior from Emmett, Idaho, earned two wins this week with a one-run, two-hit CCC win against Eastern Oregon on Saturday and a victory on a 11-strikeout performance in a 6-3 win over Holy Names (Calif.) last Sunday.

Villyard lit up EOU’s Anderson Field in La Grande with a three homeruns and seven RBI in a split with the Mountaineers. The 5-10 sophomore first baseman from Kent, Wash., went 3 for 7 at the plate for the week.. Villyard also went 1 for 2 against Holy Names with a walk and a stolen base.

Zillner and Villyard were both selected as NAIA Region I Softball Pitcher and Player of the Week.
