Lydia Holm went 2-for-2 at the plate in the first game for the Mounties.
Tale of Two Halves Gives Mounties a Split
LA GRANDE, Ore. - The Eastern Oregon University softball team had no problem heating up Anderson Field despite the frigid temperature in the first game of their doubleheader with Corban College, winning 8-0. Unfortunately, game two was a different story, as the Warrors battled back to earn a split, winning by an 8-0 score.
Game one was dominated by the pithching of senior ace Melodee Mildenberger, who shut out the Warriors by giving up just three hits and no runs in five innings.
Third baseman Lydia Holm provided much of the offense in that first contest, going 2-2 with a walk and 3 RBI as Eastern ran away from Corban.
Game two saw Eastern (3-4, 2-2 CCC) cool off from the plate while Corban (4-7, 1-1 CCC) managed to heat up during the off-and-on snow showers at Anderson Field.
The Mountaineers could muster just one hit against Corban's Erin Sailors in the 8-0 loss.
EOU will return to action at 11 a.m. Saturday at The Peg.
