KLAMATH FALLS, Oregon (March 21, 2008)—The Oregon Tech softball team held Northwest Christian College to only one run today in their Cascade Conference double-header sweep over the Beacons in Klamath Falls. The win improves Tech to 12-6 on the season and 2-0 opening league play. NCC drops to 6-11 and 0-2 in CCC action.

Game one was ended after five innings due to the eight-run rule. Tech opened their scoring in the first with four runs on three hits, tacking on one more in the third, on a Chelsea McNeil RBI single, two more on a Brittany Warren homerun in the fourth, while back-to-back doubles in the fifth would end game one, 8-0.

Jenni Bittle improved to 6-3 behind her three-hit shutout performance. NCC’s Kaitlyn McAlister was 2-2, while Brittany Robles picked up the Beacons only other hit in game one.

Tech’s Bess Fagan, Chelsea McNeil and Andrea Wheatley each put two hits on the board in game one, with Fagan picking up a game high three RBI and Warren two RBI on her homerun in inning four.

Game two was more of a pitchers dual, as both teams were scoreless before the Owl bats came alive in the bottom of the fourth inning. Two singles, followed by a Bree Larson two run double and an RBI single by Sunceray Titus, gave Tech all the runs needed to secure a game two victory. NCC would put a run on the board in the sixth inning, on an Amber Kraaz RBI single, but could plate no more runs falling to the Lady Owls by a final of 3-1.

Keri Gesner improved her season record to 5-3, giving up only three hits in the complete game victory. The Owls put seven hits together in game two, with both Amber Sinicrope and Brittany Warren finishing the game 2-3 at the plate.

The Lady Owls will pack their bags tonight and travel to McMinnville, where they will play reigning NCAA III Champions Linfield College in a non-league double-header starting at 11:00 a.m tomorrow.
