Coyote's Lyon, Concordia's Reyes Named Baseball Player of the Week Awards
PORTLAND, Ore. – The College of Idaho’s Pat Lyon and Concordia University's Roberto Reyes have been named Cascade Collegiate Conference Baseball Pitcher and Player of the Week, respectively, the league office announced Monday.
Lyon, a 6-3 senior right-handed pitcher from Bonners Ferry, Idaho, helped C of I to wins over Corban in Salem and a home win over Concordia University. In the Yotes 5-2 win over the Warriors, Lyon threw seven innings, scattering four hits and allowing both earned runs while striking out three. Against Concordia (W, 8-2), Lyon started out spotting the Cavaliers five hits in the first and then closed out his appearance allowing just one hit over the final six innings. The two starts were his first of the 2008 season.
Reyes collected three straight multi-hit games last week to bat .562 for the week. From the lead-off spot, Reyes accounted for five runs and six RBI's to lead the Cavaliers to two wins against Oregon Tech. For the season, Reyes is hitting .375 with a team-leading 16 runs and 27 hits. Reyes was also named NAIA Region I Player of the Week.
