Concordia Cavaliers Sweep Softball Player of the Week Awards
PORTLAND, Ore. – Danielle Pulfrey and Rebekah Wirkkala of Concordia University been named Cascade Collegiate Conference Softball Pitcher and Player of the Week, respectively, the league office announced Monday.
Pulfrey, a 5-7 sophomore pitcher from Hillsboro, Ore., claimed three wins on the road over the weekend, including a two-games sweep at Eastern Oregon University. In her four appearances, Pulfrey put in 21 innings of work while giving up just four earned runs and striking out 26. With her weekend's work, Pulfrey lowered her season ERA to 1.95 and raised her strikeout total to 113. Pulfrey was also named NAIA Region I Pitcher of the Week.
Wirkkala, batted .500 in four games after tallying seven hits as the Cavaliers went 3-1 on the road trip through The College of Idaho and Eastern Oregon. The 5-9 third baseman from Vancouver, Wash., drove in four runs and crossed the plate twice as Concordia averaged nearly six runs per game during the weekend.
