Concordia's Austin Wins CCC Qualifier #3 Wire-to-Wire
MONROE, Ore. -- Concordia's Tyler Austin won the third Cascade Collegiate Conference qualifier tournament of the season after leading wire-to-wire with a three-round total of 4-under 212 Tuesday at Diamond Woods Golf Course.
Austin, who posted his sixth straight conference round of even-par or better, outlasted fellow Cavalier teammate Marc Arima by six strokes. Arima, who posted the lowest score of the final round thanks to a 2-under 70, leap-frogged Northwest Christian's Justin Ahrens and Concordia's Craig Dehing over the final 18 holes to earn the runner-up honor.
Ahrens finished third thanks to a three-round total of 6-over 222, while fellow Northwest Christian teammate Brent McKee turned in a final round score of 3-over 75 to finish fourth ahead of Dehning by four strokes.
Concordia's "A" team outlasted Concordia's "B" team to take home its third straight conference team title thanks to a combined team total of 28-over 887. Tournament-host Corban finished a mere two strokes behind Concordia's "B" team in third place after posting a combined three-round team total of 97-over 961.
Meanwhile, The College of Idaho finished in fourth place with a combined team total of 179-over 1,043 thanks to Northwest Christian not being able to field a full four-person team after having to withdraw a player prior to the start of the final round due to illness.
All four teams will return to the links for the final Cascade Collegiate Conference qualifier tournament of the season on Monday and Tuesday, April 7th & 8th, as Northwest Christian hosts the regular season finale at Tokatee Golf Course in Blue River, Oregon beginning with a 36-hole opening day at 8:00 a.m.
