Concordia graduates Hollis Hale, Michael Lay and Alex Hartman have played basketball on multiple continents since competing in the CCC.
Concordia Trio Continuing Hoops Careers in the Professional Ranks
Concordia men's basketball coach Brad Barbarick recently provided updates on former CU basketball players playing in the pros.
Alex Hartman, a 2007 CU graduate, recently departed for Jakarta, Indonesia to compete for the professional club Satria Muda. Satria Muda will be competing for the Southeast Asia Basketball Association (SEABA) Championships. SEABA teams are allowed to bring in two foreign players for the postseason championship tournament. Hartman, a 6-foot-7 guard/forward was selected because of his recent international professional success.
Hartman recently returned from Goeppingen, Germany, here he averaged 22.9 points and 8.1 rebounds per game for TS Goeppingen. Hartman will spend about three weeks in Indonesia and then return to the Portland/Vancouver metro area where he will continue his professional career with the Vancouver Volcanoes of the International Basketball League (IBL). As a member of the Volcanoes last season, Hartman averaged 16.9 points per game. The native of Prineville, Ore., is a former All-Cascade Collegiate Conference performer and NAIA Honorable Mention All-American.
Michael Lay, a 2006 CU alum, recently returned to Gerraldton, Australia for his second season with the Domino’s Pizza Geraldton Buccaneers in the Western Australia Professional Basketball League. Lay, who was the Buccaneers team MVP during the 2007 season, looks to return for another successful season down under. The 5-foot-9 point guard is a former All-Cascade Collegiate Conference selection and CU team MVP. Hollis Hale, a 2003 CU alum, will continue his professional basketball career with the Las Vegas Stars of the IBL. Hale who was selected to the IBL All-Star Game last season averaged 14.0 points per game for the Stars.
