PORTLAND, Ore. - Head coach Matt Murphy has announced that Kristina Schumacher has signed a letter of intent to play basketball for Cascade College beginning in the 2008-09 season.

A 2 year starter at Everett Community College, Schumacher was recently named North Region MVP after leading the NWAACC with 660 points scored and a 20.8 ppg. average. This season she helped coach Chet Hovde's Trojans to a North Region Championship and an 8th place finish at the NWAACC Tournament in Kennewick, WA. She also finished as Everett's career leading scorer with 1138 points.

Schumacher also carries a 3.9 gpa and was named NWAACC All-Academic as a freshman and sophomore.

Originally from Lake Stevens, Wash., Schumacher was a standout player at Lake Stevens HS. She was named 2nd Team All-Conference as a senior, and was a Seattle Times and Everett Herald "Player of the Week."

"I am thrilled to have Shoe join us next fall," said coach Murphy. "Her speed and scoring ability will be the perfect fit for our style of play. She is also an individual of high character who knows the value of both academics and athletics."

The Thunderbirds are coming off a 15-17 season and advanced to the semifinals of the Cascade Conference Tournament.
