Concordia's Cadogan Captures 4th in Long Jump at NAIA Indoor Track Championships
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – In the second day of competition at the NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships held at the Memorial Center, Concordia’s Lakeesha Cadogan became a two-time NAIA All-American with a fourth-place result in the long jump, soaring 18-9 3/4 for an indoor personal record.
Simon Fraser’s Ruky Abdulai claimed the event title with a dominating 21-1 1/4 jump. Natalie Friesen, competing for Fresno Pacific, placed second with a 19-5 1/2.
“She popped a good mark on her first jump and improved in the finals,” Dalzell said. “She was consistent with her jumps and should look to have a good day tomorrow in the triple jump.”
Cadogan placed fifth in the long jump at the 2007 NAIA Outdoor Championships.
In earlier action, Cortney Bannister placed third with a 9.46 in her preliminary section of the 60-meter hurdles, but fell shy of the 12th best time needed for advancement to the semis. Webber’s Anna Wallace nabbed the final qualifier with a 9.25 from the sixth heat.
In only its third year of existence, the Concordia University track & field program has produced 16 NAIA All-American performances: four in three years of indoor nationals and 12 in two seasons at the outdoor championships.
