CALDWELL, Idaho—Down 3-0 in the fifth, Concordia scored three in the fifth to tie and three more in the sixth to double up Holy Names University in softball action at The College of Idaho Classic on Sunday.

With the win, Concordia moved to 5-4 on the season while Holy Names dropped to 8-19.

Through two single, two stolen bases and an error, HNU generated a 2-0 lead before Concordia even had a chance to bat. The Hawks would plate another runner via a CU error when Thorpe tripled to left center and made a safe passage home following an error later in the inning.

Elise Foster stifled the Concordia bats in the early stanzas, limited the Cavs to solo hits in the first, third and fourth inning.

Concordia finally touched Foster in the fifth, beginning with a Danielle Pulfrey (Hillsboro, Ore./Hillsboro, H.S.) walk and singles by Janelle Cristofaro (Central Point, Ore./Crater HS.) and Denise Benedict (Ridgefield, Wash./Prairie H.S.). With runners of first and second, Casey Middagh (Milwaukie, Ore./Rex Putnam H.S.) slammed a two-run double to tie the match at 3-3.

On the mound, Pulfrey managed to create a strikeout and a double play to cruise through the bottom of the fifth, setting up another three-run inning for the Cavs in the sixth.

A pair of hit batters preceded back-to-back singles by Cristofaro and Nicole Illias (Beaverton, Ore./Valley Catholic), before Foster stopped the charge with a groundout to first base.

In the seventh, Pulfrey notched her seventh and eight strikeouts to hold on for the complete-game five-hitter.

Cristofaro went 3-for-3 with two runs and an RBI and Middagh finished the game 2-for-3 with two RBI’s to lead the Cavs. All five HNU hits came from different players. Foster took the loss for the Hawks after striking out five and allowing eight hits and six runs in six innings of work.

Concordia returns to action on Match 11 when they face Mt. Hood C.C. in a double-header scrimmage at Delta Park in Portland, Ore. The Cavs next counter is set for March 15 at Simon Fraser University.
