Current Henley High School senior Winston Mueller comes to Corban after averaging a combined 12.9 points per game over his final two seasons as a Hornet.
Corban Adds Mueller to List of Recruits For '08-09 Season
SALEM, Ore. – Seventh-year head coach Justin Sherwood announced today the signing of Skyline League Player of the Year Winston Mueller (Klamath Falls, Ore.) to a Letter of Intent for the upcoming 2008-09 season, which makes him the second official Corban men's basketball member of the Class of 2012.
Mueller, who played forward at Henley High School, arrives in the Capitol City following a senior season in which he averaged 15.4 points per game, 8.3 rebounds per game, and shot 63.0% from the field.
"Winston is a tremendous competitor that plays extremely hard on both ends of the floor and is used to winning," said Sherwood. "He is a good athlete that has the ability to score inside and from the perimeter, and he rebounds very well."
Mueller led the Hornets to an overall record of 19-6, including a runner-up finish in the Skyline League thanks to a 12-3 mark, last season. The 6-foot-4 senior forward helped guide Henley to the second round of the OSAA 4A state tournament before the Hornets lost to eventual state champion Marist, 54-52, despite Mueller's team-high 14 points.
A member of the Skyline All-League 1st team, Mueller also was named as a member of the 4A all-state 1st team joining Phoenix High School's Mike Shepard (2nd team) and Hidden Valley High School's Saxon Goetfried (honorable mention) as the only Skyline League players on this year's team. Mueller was also named as a member of the Skyline League's All-Defensive 1st team.
Mueller averaged 10.4 points and 5.0 rebounds per game as a junior, while earning team Most Valuable Player honors and All-Skyline League 2nd team accolades.
This summer, Mueller will be competing as part of the 2008 OACA Gatorade All-Star Series on June 20th and 21st at Northwest Christian College in Eugene and Clackamas Community College in Clackamas.
Mueller, along with fellow incoming freshman Erik Cronrath (Battleground, Wash.), currently make up the list of recruits for the upcoming 2008-09 season. The aforementioned duo will be joining ten returning players from last season's Warrior squad that finished at 10-20 overall and 5-15 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play.
Corban is scheduled to tip-off its 2008-09 season on Friday, November 21st, when the Warriors host NCAA Division III member George Fox beginning at 7:30 p.m. inside the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center.
