No. 21 Tech Sweeps Patten

Klamath Falls, Oregon (April 13, 2008) – With temperatures in the lower 70’s, Oregon Tech pounded out 22 hits and 22 runs on their way to a two game sweep of Patten University on a perfect day for softball.

In game one, Oregon Tech jumped on top with five runs in the bottom of the first, four more runs in the bottom of the second, and finished off Patten with three runs in the fourth to win 12 – 0. Tech’s offense was led by Jenni Bittle (Central Point, OR) going 2-4, Brittany Warren (Longview, WA) 2-3 with three runs scored, Bess Fagan (Klamath Falls, OR) 2-2 with three runs scored, and Bree Larson (Yamhill, OR) going 1-3, with a homerun (1) and three RBI.
Jenni Bittle allowed just one hit over 5 innings and struck out four on her way to her 13th win of the season.

In game two, Patten was the first on the scoreboard with three hits in the first inning leading to one run. Tech then answered with one run in second, two runs in the third, five runs in the fourth, and then put the game away with two more runs in the fifth, including a homerun by Jenny Austin(Grants Pass, OR), her first of the season. Patten was led by Andrea Varady (Livermore, Ca) who had three hits in game two and the only hit for Patten in game one.

Keri Gesner (Orting, WA) pitched all five innings, giving up seven hits, two runs (Both earned), striking out five and walking one. With the win, Gesner improves to 10-5 on the season.

With the two wins, OIT improves to 24-10 on the season. The Lady Owls who are currently first in the Cascade Conference at 12-2 will host Concordia who are in second place in the Cascade Conference at 10-4 this Friday in a doubleheader scheduled to start at 3:00pm at Oregon Tech.
