MONMOUTH, Ore. -- Despite running in less than ideal conditions, three College of Idaho runners met NAIA qualifying times at the Western Oregon Twilight here Saturday.

Tyler Hopper recorded his second NAIA automatic standard of the spring, winning the 5,000-meter race in 14:50.15 in temperatures in the high-30's. The senior dominated the race, winning by over nine-seconds.

The Lady Yotes also posted their first two qualifying times of the season - as freshman Stephanie Helm met the NAIA "A" standard in the 5,000, placing fifth in 17:59.08. She was joined in the race by Katie Ball, who met the NAIA "B" standard with a personal best time of 18:21.12.

Other C of I runners performing well were Geoff Williams, who placed third in the 3,000-steeplechase with a season-best 10:03.63, along with Stephanie Sparks, who placed second (2:22.37), and Ashley Miller, who placed third (2:23.12) in the 800-meters.

The Coyotes will split their squad again next weekend, with the majority of the team competing at Northwest Nazarene's Twilight meet, while a handful of runners will compete at the University of Oregon Relays.
