Eagles Post Five Personal Bests In Warner Pac Meet
PORTLAND, OR – With weather conditions well below seasonal averages, Northwest University Eagle track and field team members posted five personal bests and a school record at the Warner Pacific Mini Meet in Portland on Friday.
Junior Adrienne Hall (Dallas, OR) started the Eagles off with her 2nd place finish in the 200m dash with her time of 27.65, a personal best, which puts her on tenth on Cascade Conference list of best times in the event this season. Hall took third in the 100m dash (14.48). Joy Gebhart (Junior, Aberdeen, WA) took 6th place in the 3,000m run with a personal best time of 11:51.0. 1 minute 11 seconds better than her previous PB. Megan Groff (Freshman, Lake Stevens, WA) was the only competitor in the pole vault, but scored a personal best in the event at 9' 6", 6 inches over her previous best vault and 6th on CCC best list, and a second best all-time at NU.
Eagle sophomore Jimmy Reed (Bothell, WA) led the NU men with two first place finishes, one in the 100m dash (11.38 and a personal best and sixth on CCC best list), and another first place finish in the 200m dash with a time of 22.37, a school record, putting him second on CCC list of best times this year. Junior Jerome Inge (Snohomish, WA) took second in the 100m with a time of 11.72 and a personal best. Inge also took third place in the 200m dash 23.27 (a personal best and 8th on the conference best list). Tyler Hart (Sophomore, Bothell, WA) finished second in the 1500m run with his time of 4:16.10. In the men’s 3,000m run, Eagle sophomore Alex Croutworst (Mountlake Terrace, WA) finished third with his time of 9:17.24. Teammate Sam Ade came in 11th in the event (10:23.30). Freshman Greg Peters was the only competitor in the men’s high jump and finished with a jump of 5’10”, in his second meet of his career.
Host Warner Pacific won both the men’s and women’s titles scoring 127 points and 98 points respectively. Northwest U. took fourth in the women’s division with 25 points and third on the men’s side with 58 points.
"It was a very good weekend for Northwest University track & field,” commented head coach Preston Brashers. “We saw big improvements almost across the board and I really felt their competitive edge came out in full force. We should have a lot of confidence right now heading into our last meet before the conference meet."
The Eagles will return to Bellingham for the third time this season when they take part in the WWU Twilight meet on April 25 and 26.
