Tripp Nets Second NAIA Qualifier at WOU Twilight
MONMOUTH, Ore. – Katherine Tripp added her second qualifier to the NAIA outdoor championships to highlight Concordia action at the Western Oregon Twilight held at McArthur Field on Friday.
Tripp, already qualified for the 2008 NAIA outdoor championships in the shot, hit the provisional standard in the discus with a 136-1 toss for second place. Placing first in the event, Annie Hess eclipsed her own stadium record with a 179-8 throw.
Lakeesha Cadogan took the triple jump title for CU with a season-best distance. Cadogan increased her season-best by three-fourths of an inch by landing in 37-8 3/4 for the event title.
Danielle Furgason and Erika Schmid tied for the lead in the high jump after both cleared the bar at 4-11 3/4. Kaycee Gillespie grabbed the pole vault title with a 9-6 clearance and Lauren Sexton led a 1-2-3 sweep of the javelin with a 148-5. Danielle Clauson followed in second place with a 131-10 and Aria Nojima placed third at 127-6.
