KLAMATH FALLS, Oregon (April 20, 2008)—Between game 1 squalls, the University of British Columbia was able to put up 11 runs, as T’Bird hurler Scott Webster held the Owls to only four base hits on the way to an 11-2 win. Game 2 saw UBC jump out to an early lead, but the Owls were able to come from behind to secure a 9-7 win in the nightcap. Oregon Tech is now 17-25 on the season, while UBC is currently 21-18.

The T’Birds scored the bulk of their runs in the middle innings, plating two in the 3rd, three in the 4th, one in the 5th and two in the 6th for their first eight runs of the game. UBC also added an insurance run in the 8th inning and two in the 9th on a Bob Foerster two-run dinger.

A hot hitting Sean Teaters was the only Tech offense, going 3-3 at the plate including a two-run homerun in the sixth inning and an RBI single in the eighth.

The Owls took their first lead of the day on a four run 2nd inning in game 2 to go up 5-3. Ryson Mauricio started the scoring on a bases loaded single that drove in two runs followed by a Frank Drake single to plate another with Sean Teaters adding another RBI in the inning to conclude the Tech scoring. Both teams would then score a single run in the 3rd inning to make it 6-4. Oregon Tech added three much needed insurance runs in the sixth inning on another RBI single by Teaters and two bases loaded walks by UBC. The T’Birds scored three runs in the seventh and put the tying run at the plate, but Tech relief pitcher Kevin Huntley was able to get a two out ground out to secure the game 9-7.

Trent Smith was the hot hitter for Tech in game 2 going 4-4 at the plate, all singles and an RBI. Sean Teater was 2-3 and drove in three runs. Teaters ended the afternoon with five hits and six RBI. Dustin Kim Seu and Mauricio both gathered two hits each. Owl starter Chad Trevisan settled down after the first two innings of work to pick up his second win of the season, striking out four and scattering four hits in 5.2 innings on the mound.

Oregon Tech will host Patten College at Kiger Stadium in a non-league doubleheader on Thursday 4/24 starting at 4:00 PM in the Owls last homestand of the year.
