Warner Pacific Tabs Gregg as New Women's Basketball Coach
PORTLAND, Ore. -- Warner Pacific College has announced the hiring of Matt Gregg as its new women’s basketball coach.
Gregg is currently the coach of the girls' basketball team at Freeman High School near Spokane, Wash. During his five years there he has accumulated a record of 103-24 while leading the team to three state tournament appearances. The highest finish occurred in 2005, when Gregg piloted the team to a second-place state finish. For his efforts that season, he was selected as the all-state coach at the Class A level.
In addition to his duties coaching basketball, Gregg also teaches middle school and coaches the varsity tennis team in the Post Falls, Idaho school district.
In anticipation of directing the women’s basketball program at Warner Pacific College, Gregg said, "Coaching at the college level has been a dream of mine since I started coaching high school 13 years ago. I am very excited about this chance to work on a small campus with great people, and with a super group of returning players in place. I see this being a positive experience for anyone involved with Warner Pacific. Go Knights!”
Gregg replaces Katy Steding, who recently accepted an opportunity to join the coaching staff of the new WNBA franchise in Atlanta.
Gregg will assume duties once he completes his current coaching and teaching responsibilities.
