Coyotes' Zubizarreta, Tech's Teaters Named Baseball Pitcher and Player of the Week
PORTLAND, Ore. – The College of Idaho’s Joey Zubizarreta and Oregon Tech’s Sean Teaters have been named Cascade Collegiate Conference Baseball Pitcher and Player of the Week, respectively, the league office announced Monday.
Zubizarreta, a 6-4 senior from Boise, claimed a road victory in a 9-3 triumph over CCC foe Concordia in his only start last week. He did not allow a run in seven innings of work, while striking out five and walking just one Cavalier. The win evened Zubizarreta’s season record at 4-4 and lowered his RA to 3.83.
Teaters picked up his first Player of the Week award, hitting .692 in the Owl’s four games versus Region I advisory The University of British Columbia last week. Teaters had at least one hit in all four games, collecting two doubles and two homers, while collecting 11 RBIs. The 6-0 senior first baseman from Central Point, Ore., was also named the NAIA Region I Player of the Week.
