College of Idaho's Katie Zillner Named National Pitcher of the Week
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Katie Zillner of The College of Idaho has been selected as the NAIA Softball Pitcher of the Week while Cristina Rodriguez of Mobile (Ala.) was awarded the NAIA Softball Player of the Week for April 14-20.
Zillner, a senior pitcher from Emmett, Idaho, recorded two wins last week. She struck out 28 batters in 14 innings and did not allow a run. On the season Zillner is 11-7 with 1.49 ERA and 174 strikeouts. She also became the first pitcher to record 500 career striketouts in school history.
Rodriguez, a senior catcher from Valencia, Carabobo, Venezuela, recorded 10 hits in 17 at bats for a .588 batting average during the week and helped the team post 6-0 record. She had 12 RBI and scored seven runs on three homeruns and a double. Rodriguez also recorded 1.176 slugging percentage and .571 on-base percentage.
