SEATTLE - Concordia University’s racewalk contingent continued their winning ways at the NAIA 5k/3k Qualifier that was held this past weekend in Seattle at West Seattle Stadium.

The race was organized in conjunction with the annual Pacific Northwest Track and Field Northwest Regional Masters meet. Racewalkers from the University of British Columbia (UBC) and Concordia competed in both the 5,000- and 3,000-meter event.

Jeremy Bahr-Worley cruised to a first-place finish and an NAIA outdoor championship automatic qualifying time of 26:24.6 for the 5,000. Bahr-Worley broke away from teammate Shawn Magee at the first mile to go on to victory and improve his time from the provisional mark he achieved earlier in the year.

Magee battled for second place, edging out UBC’s Creighton Connelly with a time of 27:06.3 to Connelly’s 27:11.0. Magee also dipped under the automatic standard for the 5,000 in his runner-up effort. Both walkers will look to improve their times when they compete at the Cascade Collegiate Conference championships to be held at Mt. Hood College May 8-10.

After the race, all of the Concordia walkers received high marks and praise from the numerous Master level USATF officials that judged the event. They praised their fine form and technique that allowed them all to walk legal and fast in their first short race of the season.

Men’s Results 5,000: 1. Jeremy Bahr-Worley, Concordia, 26:24.6; 2. Shawn Magee, Concordia, 27:06.3; 3. Creighton Connelly, British Columbia, 27:11.0.
