BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Geoduck track and field competitors traveled to Western Washington University's Twilight Invitational Friday night and set many personal bests and two school records.

In the sprints, Ryan Lara (Fr. Franklin Pierce HS) had a season's best in the 200 meters finishing 7th overall and breaking his own school record with a 23.14 clocking. Jason Shoemaker (Jr. Raymond HS) ran a personal best of 12.02 to place 21st.

Lara also finished sixth in the 400 meters running 51.42 in the one lapper.

5000 meter runners Brian Rakestraw (So, Woodinville HS) and Eric Jones (Jr. Columbia River HS) placed 9th and 17th respectively in a field of 36 runners. Both Geoducks tagged along with the fast paced front runners which took it's toll the pair, but they held on for personal bests. Rakestraw's time of 15:29.08 betters his own school record and Jones improves to 15:47.97.

Liam Rockwell finished 5th in the first heat of the 800 meters in a personal best of 2:02.84 and placed 14th overall.

Evergreen will take next weekend off as they prepare for the Cascade Conference Track and Field Championships May 8-10.
