Bishop Adds 2 More Records in Season Finale for Beacons

EUGENE, Ore. – It took until her second-to-last at bat of the season, but Cassie Bishop finally added two more pieces to her record-breaking freshman season. Bishop hit her seventh home run and scored her 28th run of the season in game two against Concordia University on Sunday afternoon, giving her a total of six single-season records.

Concordia swept the double-header from NCC, 5-1 and 9-4, closing out a 10-33 season that saw the Beacons finish seventh in the Cascade Collegiate Conference with a 3-21 mark. Concordia is fighting to hang on to second-place in the CCC at 19-14, 14-8 in the conference with two games remaining.

Danielle Pulfrey single-handedly took care of the Beacons in the double-header, striking out 21 batters in 11.1 innings over the two games to pick up a pair of victories. She allowed just six hits and one run earned run on the home run by Bishop.

Over the two games, Corrie Gustafson gave the Beacons a lift, batting 3-for-6 with an RBI. Jen West and Lissa Hatefi had two hits each for Northwest Christian. Darci Byrne (8-15) and Megan McLearn (1-17) each closed out their senior seasons with losses however McLearn was able to bat 1-for-3 with a run scored in the second game of the double-header.

Janelle Cristofaro batted 4-for-8 on the afternoon with six RBI and a run scored, smacking three doubles. Nicole Illias was 4-for-7 with two runs and Sam Daline batted 3-for-8 with two runs and two RBI, which come on a two-run go-ahead homer in game two.

For Bishop, her freshman season ends with single-season records broken for runs (28), hits (43), walks (21), total bases (73), multi-hit games (14) and home runs (7). Her .344 batting average led the team and was the fifth highest output in school history.

Concordia will close out their regular season on Friday with a double-header against Corban College before heading to the NAIA Region I tournament the following week.
