Coyotes' Lyon, Brubaker Sweep Baseball Weekly Awards
PORTLAND, Ore. – The College of Idaho’s Pat Lyon and Cody Brubaker have been named Cascade Collegiate Conference Baseball Pitcher and Player of the Week, respectively, the league office announced Monday.
Lyon, a 6-3 senior from Bonners Ferry, Idaho, tossed his fourth complete game his last five outings with a 4-2, seven-inning victory over Corban College (Ore.). In his two-hit, two-run win, Lyon struck out three while not walking a single Warrior batter. The win was one of four the Coyotes took from Corban to push the College of Idaho back over the .500 (24-22) on the season. Lyon also claimed NAIA Region I Pitcher of the Week honors.
Brubaker, helped the Coyotes clinch their fourth-straight Cascade Collegiate Conference championship by hitting .692 (9-of-13) in his three games this past weekend. The six-foot left fielder from Post Falls tallied a double, a triple, and a homer while knocking in seven runs. Brubaker is currently hitting .327 on the season with a team-high 31 RBI. He was also named NAIA Region I Player of the Week.
