PORTLAND, Ore. -- A majority of Cascade Collegiate Conference track and field programs were in action on Friday, with most taking part in the Willamette Invitational in Salem, home to the largest collegiate track and field meet in the Pacific Northwest.

Scheduled to represent the CCC in the Willamette Invite, which continues Saturday, were Cascade, Concordia, Corban, Eastern Oregon, Evergreen, Oregon Tech, Northwest University, Northwest Christian College, and Warner Pacific.

More than 57 collegiate and club teams comprising 950 athletes are on hand for the Willamette Invitational.

In Friday's action, a pair of Cascade Conference student-athletes -- Concordia's Tim Badley in the 10,000 meters and Eastern Oregon's Quintin Baxter in the hammer throw -- won individual event titles. Badley timed 31:07.94 in winning the 10,000, while Baxter had a throw of 187-11 in capturing the hammer title.

Southern Oregon's David Laney in the 10,000 meters (31:36) and Kevin Jeffers in the 5,000 (14:42) reached NAIA qualifying standards.

Meanwhile, in Palo Alto, Calif., competitors from Concordia University's men's and women's teams competed on the first day of the Stanford Invitational at Stanford Stadium.
