Two New Signees Will Make Their College Debuts at Evergreen this Fall

OLYMPIA, Wash. - Corey Spears-Johnson and and Cody Wooden will join the 2008 Soccer roster as talented freshman players with plenty of combined high-level experience. Both signed their Letter of Intent this past week.

Spears-Johnson of Mark Morris High School in Longview, WA was voted First Team All-League both is sophomore and junior years and is entering his senior season this spring as a forward. Additionally, he was team captain and MVP, leading his team to a fourth place finish in the State Championship Tournament.

Corey is a strong in the classroom as well. Carrying a 3.76 GPA, he was named to the First Team All-League Academic Team.

From Red Mountain High School in Mesa, AZ, Wooden will join the team as a center midfielder. The high school senior has been a varsity starter since his sophomore year.

In addition to his high school team, Cody plays on the two-time Arizona State Champion Gilbert Arsenal club. A team that is ranked 13th in the nation.

Say's head coach John Purtteman, "Cody will be a great addition to the squad... he's tenacious and fast".

About the two signees Purtteman adds, "both of these players will compete for playing time their first year".
