Concordia Captures CCC Golf Qualifier at Tokatee
BLUE RIVER, Ore. - The Concordia University women’s golf team claimed five of the top six spots to claim a team victory in the fourth regular season CCC tournament at Tokatee Golf Course in Blue River, Ore. The Cavs carded a 994 to grab a 242 stroke victory over second-place Corban.
Lindsay Aho shot a final-round 81 and carded a 242 for the tournament to lead the Concordia contingent, claiming medalist honors. Kim Lindow followed in second place and was just three shots back after posting a tournament-low 78 over the final 18 holes. Amy Esmeier grabbed fourth place and finished at 253 after a 79 in the final round. Lisa Schmidt rounded out the scoring in fifth place (90-80-84=254), and the fifth Cavalier, Kim Tilton, took sixth place with a 266.
Corban College took second place, scoring a 1236. Elizabeth Sherwin finished with 298 to lead the Warriors with a 9th-place finish. Right behind in tenth was Caylin Bankston who dropped under 100 for the first time in the tournament on Tuesday with a 99, finishing at 307. After scoring an ace in the first round on Monday, Emily Stumfel closed out the tournament with a 104 on Tuesday to finish at 311 for 11th place. Jordan Weldon rounded out the scoring with a 320.
Northwest Christian College, which was sitting comfortably in second place after the first 36 holes were unable to card a team score after Colleen Koopal had to withdraw due to illness after 13 holes in the third round. Ashley King of NCC took third place, shooting an 83-82-85=250 to finish eight shots back of the leader. Jordie Howell shot a 104 on Tuesday to round out a 12th place finish at 312. Reanna Huston carded a 325, good for 14th.
Catherine Everest led a three member contingent from The College of Idaho, finishing in seventh place after a final round 95 put her at 277. April Patton was right behind in eighth, dropping eight strokes in the third round to 92 to finish at 292. Erica Sheppard rounded out the Yotes group with a 328 in 15th place.
