17 CCC Women Have Reached NAIA Auto Qualifying Marks
PORTLAND, Ore. -- Seventeen Cascade Collegiate Conference women's track and field athletes have earned automatic qualifying marks for the NAIA national championships, to be held in St. Louis in late May.
In two events, the discus and the javelin, CCC athletes have the top marks in the country, according to the NAIA performance lists as of April 9.
Concordia's Annie Hess, the defending NAIA champion in the discus, leads the country to date with her mark of 183-10 set last week at the Stanford Invitational.
In the javelin, CU's Lauren Sexton has the NAIA's top mark with a throw of 161-9, also set at the Stanford Invitational. The Cascade Conference is dominating the javelin to date, with five of the top 10 marks coming from the CCC. Concordia's Danielle Clauson has the No. 2 mark to date (159-7).
