Concordia Finishes NAIA Women's Golf Championship in 11th

SAN DIEGO -- For the third straight day, the Concordia University women’s golf squad dropped a place in the team standings at the NAIA Championships, but the Cavaliers still finished with school’s second highest result.
After four rounds at the San Marcos Country Club, Concordia (322-332-324-339—1,317) placed 11th out of 23 teams. Concordia’s highest finish at the national event was in their first appearance with an eighth-place result in 2005.
Oklahoma City (1,267) edged Embry Riddle (1,270) by three strokes to capture its fourth straight team title. Tournament host Cal State San Marcos (1,284) fired a 333 on the fourth day to place third while British Columbia (1,288) placed fourth to lead a five-team representation from NAIA Region I institutions.
Rocky Mountain and Victoria tied for 12th place with four-round sums of 1,335 and Lewis-Clark State placed 19th with a 1,395.
Individually, Concordia was led by Lindsay Aho (78-82-76-83—319), who finished the championship in a tie for 13th place after carding an 83 in the final round. Aho started the day tied for seventh overall
Amy Esmier (78-81-82-87—328) dropped seven spots to tie for 35th out of 120 golfers with an 87 on Friday. Kim Lindow improved four positions with an 85 to jump to No. 43 on the leaderboard.
Also competing for the Cavaliers were Lisa Schmidt (85-84-87-86—342) in a tie for 73rd place and Kim Tilton (87-85-88-85—345) in 80th place.
Shanna Page (75-78-78-77—308) of Bethel took medalist honors with a 5-over for the tournament. Page fired a 77 on the final day to hold off British Columbia’s Kyla Inaba (80-78-76-78—213) by four strokes. Embry Riddle’s Tara Allen and Oklahoma City’s Ashley Sholer tied for third with a four-day sum of 314 strokes.
