NEW YORK—Former Concordia University soccer player and NAIA honorable mention All-American Jennifer Hughes has landed on the roster of the New York Magic, a member of the USL's W-League based in Brooklyn, New York.

Hughes (Eagle Mountain, Utah), the 2005 Cascade Collegiate Conference Player of the Year, and three-time all-region player for the Cavaliers, got her first action with the Magic last week in a 2-1 loss to the Long Island Roughriders.

“The girls are fun and I still have a love of the game so I have been enjoying it,” Hughes said.

The W-League is comprised of 41 teams in the United States and Canada under the United Soccer Leagues (USL) umbrella. The league features international and former professional stars as well as elite collegiate players.

“It is great to see the opportunities for women's players increasing after college," Landy said. "I am happy for Jen because she always had such a passion for the game. It is great for our program as well to see players continuing to play at a high level after their careers at Concordia are over.”
