No. 2 L-C State Posts 11-3 Win over Concordia

VANCOUVER, B.C. – The No.2-ranked Lewis-Clark State Warriors placed four on the board in the first and never looked back in a 11-3 win over Concordia in NAIA Region I action at Nat Bailey Stadium on Thursday.

With the win, LC State improved to 48-5 on the year and will face The College of Idaho on Friday at 2 p.m.
Concordia dropped to 16-26 overall and will match up against the tournament host the University of British Columbia in an elimination game tomorrow at 10 a.m.. UBC fell by a 3-0 score to C of I in the second game on Thursday.

LCSC collected 15 hits and scored in six of the nine innings while starter Michael Guerrero pitched eight strong innings and improved to 7-1 on the season. Guerrero struck out five while scattering eight hits and giving up the three earned runs. The Warrior offense was boosted by a two-run double by Kyle Greene in the first and a solo home run by Sean Halton in the fifth.

Chris Valencia made it 5-0 in the top of the third with an RBI double, but Concordia fought back with a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning.

Derek Shigano opened the frame with a single to center field and Roberto Reyes followed with a one-base shot to right to set up a two-run single by Ryan Sussenguth.

Ben Lanier provided the final score for the Cavs with a solo shot over the left-field fence in the fifth.

Concordia senior right-hander Jason Grisham went the distance and gave up 15 hits, nine earned runs and four walks while striking out three hitters.
