Anthony Baugher Named Head Coach At Cascade College
PORTLAND, Ore. - Cascade College is pleased to announce that Anthony Baugher has accepted the position of head men’s basketball coach.
“This is a tremendous opportunity to work with great people and build a quality program built on pillars of character and integrity that reflect Christian values” Baugher said. “My family and I love the city of Portland and I have always wanted the chance to coach college basketball. I am very thankful to the administration at Cascade College for allowing me to pursue this goal.”
Last year, Baugher was the head boys’ basketball coach at Portland Christian High School where he led the Royals to a 25-3 record and the 2008 Oregon 2A State Championship. Baugher was named OSAA 2A state Coach of the Year and he coached two all-state players during their run to the title.
Prior to his tenure with PC, Baugher was head coach at Toppenish High School in Toppenish, WA for three seasons. At Toppenish he took over a boys’ basketball program that had not reached the district playoffs in the previous 11 years. Coach Baugher rebuilt the program and led the team to the post-season his second and third years.
Baugher has also coached at Riverdale High School in Portland, OR and Oregon School for the Deaf in Salem, OR. His career record is 176-80 in 12 seasons as a head coach.
Coach Baugher also has 15 years experience running various basketball camps including founding the Future Hoops Stars Basketball Camps in 1999. Baugher played and coached professionally for the St. Gall’s Basketball Club in Belfast, Northern Island and was also a member of the 1989 WIAA 1A State Champion Grandview Greyhounds in Grandview, Washington.
Coach Baugher earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Eastern Oregon University, majoring in Liberal Studies. He and his wife Cindy have two sons, Zach (8) and Josh (5) and a puppy, Dexter.
