SUN VALLEY, Idaho -- A pair of teams comprising members of The College of Idaho cross country and track team won their divisions at the 17th Annual Sawtooth Relay here.

A team, Grads and Dads, comprised of head coach Pat McCurry, assistant Mike Anderson, former assistant Tim Riley, and recent C of I grads Tyler Hopper, Tyler Gross, and Jesse Chlebeck, crushed the course record, completing the grueling race in five hours 52 minutes, knocking five minutes off the previous best time.

The relay is a 61.9 mile event on Highway 75, running between Stanley and Ketchum. It begins at 6,300-feet, rising to Galena Summit at 8,700-feet, finishing near Sun Valley at 5,800-feet. There are 12 legs to the race, with each runner on the six-person team running two five-mile legs. A total of 263 six-member teams competed in the event.

A coed-team, including current Coyote runners Cory Kniep, Geoff Williams, Kristine Smith, Stephanie Helm, and Ashley Miller won their division, while a women's team, including Genny Gerke, Chantel Varland, Molli Lee-Painter, and Jayne Saunders, finished second overall.
