Clackamas High School graduate Eris Serres will join the Cavaliers next season.
Track Trio Commits to Concordia University
PORTLAND, Ore.—Jessy Brown of Gresham, Ore., Patrick Fennimore of Silverton, Ore., and Eric Serres of Clackamas, Ore., have signed to continue their education and compete in track and field at Concordia University, Cavalier head coach Randy Dalzell announced.
The Concordia men’s track team, in just their third season of existence, placed fifth overall at the NAIA national championships last season behind the strength of two individual national champions and six All-Americans. With Dalzell at the helm, the Cavs have also gathered three straight Cascade Collegiate Conference crowns.
Jessy Brown will arrive at Concordia after recent success at Mt. Hood Community College, where he was a three-time All-American with top finishes in the 800, 1,500 and the 1,600 relay. Last season, Brown placed fourth at the NWAACC championships in the 1,500 and captured wins in the 800 and the 1,500 at the Southern Region Championships. A 2002, graduate of Reynolds High School, Brown was named Athlete of the Year by the Mount Hood Conference as a senior after placing first in the 800 and the 1,600-meter relay.
A 2006 grad of Silverton High School, Patrick Fennimore attended Southwestern Oregon Community College last year. A triple jump and hurdle specialist, Fennimore also competed in the decathlon for the Lakers, eventually placing seventh in decathlon at the NWAACC championships with a 5,037 tally. Fennimore ran track and played four years of football for Silverton High, entering the long jump, triple jump, both hurdle races and the discus as a prep athlete for the Foxes. Fennimore was also a member of the Silverton basketball and wrestling teams for one season. On the football team, was an all-conference player on both sides of the ball, earning first-team honors as a defensive lineman and second-team recognition as a tight end.
Eric Serres is a 2008 graduate from Clackamas High School where he was a four-year track standout for the Cavaliers. Serres also played two seasons for football before joining the cross country team as a junior. On the track, he was a member of the school record 1,600 relay squad and holds personal records of 15.37 in the 110 hurdles and 41.29 in the 300 hurdles. He helped the Cavs to back-to-back district and dual meet championships in 2007 and 2008.
