Cle Elum's Kourtney Craft Commits to Concordia Hoops
PORTLAND, Ore.—Cle Elum, Wash., native and two-year standout at Lower Columbia College, Kourtney Craft has signed to continue her education and play basketball at Concordia, head coach Aaron Christian announced today.
Craft, a 5-foot-4 point guard, will enter the 2008-09 season listed as a junior with two years of eligibility remaining.
“Kourtney provides our team with a veteran guard on our roster,” Christian said. “She does a good job at pushing the ball up the floor and finding open teammates. Each time I watched her play I felt she got better and better. She works hard and gives us another option at point guard.”
While playing for Lower Columbia College, Craft guided to a fourth-lace result in the NWAACC as a freshman. Last season Craft averaged 3.4 points and 2.1 points per game while making nine starts and 27 appearances for the 22-8 Red Devils. LCC finished the season in first place in the west division of the NWAACC with a 14-2 mark in league play.
Craft starred at Cle Elum Roslyn High School, captaining the Warriors as a senior in 2006. Craft also excelled in cross country and track and field, competing in the Washington state meet in both sports all four seasons and helped her team to a fourth-place finish at the state track meet as a junior.
The daughter of Michelle and Edwin Craft, Kourtney plans to major in education at Concordia.
Concordia finished last season 15-16 on the year and 11-9 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference to earn the No. 5 seed in the conference tournament where the season ended with a defeat at Oregon Tech in the first round.
In its second season with head coach Aaron Christian at the helm of the Cavaliers, the team more than doubled the conference win total after posting a 5-13 league record during the 2006-07.
