Cascade Men's Basketball Signs Two More Recruits
PORTLAND, Ore. - Head men's basketball coach, Anthony Baugher has announced the signing of two more recruits for the 2008-2009 season.
Trevor Brink is from Selah, Washington where he played basketball for Selah high school. In high school he averaged 18.5 points, 7.0 assists, 4.4 rebounds, and 3.1 steals per game, and lettered three years. Trevor led Selah to the State Tournament in 2004, and was selected First Team All Mid-Valley League his senior year. He also was selected Athlete of the Year at Selah high school.

His outstanding play was recognized and he was selected to participate in the Media Classic. The Media Classic showcases the top local high school basketball players in Central Washington.
After high school Trevor played two years at Wenatchee Valley CC, where he averaged 7.9 points, 2.8 assists and 2.4 rebounds per game. Known for his 3-point shooting ability, he led the team with 54.5% from behind the arc playing the shooting guard position for WVCC. "Trevor is an incredible young man of high character and faith," Cascade head coach Anthony Baugher said. "He is a program guy and a perfect fit for what we are trying to accomplish here at Cascade." Trevor received Male Scholar- Athlete of the Year and was nominated for the President's Medal for showing outstanding leadership, service, and academic achievement while at Wenatchee Valley CC.
Ernesto Mayz is a 6'3 shooting guard from Caracas, Venezuela. He is the second of two children born to Ligia and Oscar Mayz. Oscar is a Coach and a Counselor while Ligia is a teacher in High School.

Ernesto has a passion for basketball that was developed through the years of hard work, dedication, the support of his parents, and the motivation provided by his School Unidad Educativa Colegio Champagnat where he played for ten years functioning as the team captain. Along with his basketball accomplishments Ernesto was also recognized in the classroom when he graduated in the top 25% of his class. Ernesto plans on majoring in business while attending Cascade College. "We are pleased to have such a hardworking student-athlete like Ernesto represent our college and basketball program" stated coach Baugher.
While in high school Ernesto got the opportunity to travel around the world and play in places like Chile, Spain and Italy when he was selected to represent Venezuela for his amazing play in the Caracas's School Tournament (LIDES). These experiences helped him grow not only as an athlete, but as a person, thanks to the cultural exchange involved in those tournaments.
In 2002 Ernesto decided to travel to the United States in an Exchange Students Program (Students of the World). New Jersey was the place. He played for the Atlantic City High School Varsity Team where he was awarded and recognized for his tirelessly hard work, perseverance and unconditional help with his teammates. After that he has participated in many National Tournaments representing his State and community as a captain and leader. "For some it's just a beautiful game, for others a great sport, but to me... It's a way of life; it's what I was born for, the best way to live my life" added Ernesto.
