PORTLAND, Ore.—The Concordia University women’s basketball team added transfers Angela and Rebecca Gimeno for the 2008-09 season, Cavalier head coach Aaron Christian announced. Originally from Spokane, Wash., the twins played at Montana Tech last season.

“It’s rare to get players with only just one year left of eligibility but Angela and Rebecca are the type of players that will be a great fit and will enhance our program,” Christian said. “They give us tremendous experience in the backcourt and they will really compliment our returning players.”

The duo started their career at The Master’s College before transferring to Montana Tech.

Angela averaged 11.1 points per game while Rebecca added 10.9 points per game last season for the Orediggers. During the 2006-07 season, the duo combined for 29 points and 6.9 rebounds per game to help Montana Tech to a 16-13 overall record. For her efforts, Rebecca earned the Frontier Conference Newcomer of the Year award following the season. While at The Master’s College, Angela played her way onto the NAIA National Tournament All-Tournament Team while leading the Mustangs to the Fab Four in 2005.

As preps, the Gimeno’s guided St. George High School to state championships in 2002 and again in 2004, while settling for runner-up honors during their junior campaign in 2003. Angela earned four straight first-team all-league honors while Rebecca captured the title her final three seasons at St. George.
