KIRKLAND, Wash. – The Northwest University men battled to a 0-0 tie with Oregon Tech tonight at Lake Washington Stadium. No overtime was played since this was a non-conference contest for the two members of the Cascade Conference. It was the inaugural game for the men’s team of Oregon Tech as they begin their first year of competition.

Both teams had opportunities but goalkeepers Kyle Wall (Junior, Seattle, Wash.) of Northwest U. and Travis Bille (Junior, Grants Pass, Ore.) would not allow any ball in the net tonight. Bille finished with 5 saves and Wall had 1 save on the evening. Northwest out shot OIT 15 to 4 and had a one man advantage when OIT defender Devin Torrey (Junior, Medford, Ore.) was issued a red card for his second yellow card at the 62.56 mark of the second half. The teams played even after NU’s Nathan Murphy (Fresh., Centralia, Wash.) was red carded and left the contest at the 75:39 point in the game.

Ian Van der Zwan led OIT (0-0-1, 0-0) with 2 shots as Northwest’s Matt Johnson, Micah Williams, and Drew Jensen each had 3 attempts at the goal.

Northwest U. will host Walla Walla University at Lake Washington on September 4 while OIT will host Menlo College of California on August 30 in Klamath Falls.
