ASHLAND, Ore. -- The 12th-ranked Southern Oregon University volleyball team again hung tough but didn’t have enough as top-ranked Fresno Pacific scored a 25-18, 25-19, 25-20 victory Saturday in the finale of the Raider Classic at McNeal Pavilion.

Lisa Schilling and Julie De Jager both had eight kills to lead Fresno Pacific. Samantha Yutzie finished with six kills for SOU. Maggie Rivers had a match-high 14 digs.
Much like on Friday night, SOU hung with the Sunbirds early.

In set two, Fresno Pacific flexed its muscle and jumped out to a 16-9 lead and cruised to victory.
The finale was entertaining for those at McNeal Pavilion.
Fresno Pacific jumped out to a 9-5 lead, before SOU came back to tie it at 11-11. After Fresno again pulled away, a kill by freshman Kalista Harrison cut the FPU lead to 19-18, but that’s as close as the Raiders would get.
Junior setter Lindsey Stone played the final two sets and finished with 14 assists.
SOU travels to the California-Irvine Classic next weekend.
