Concordia Adds Salem's Sharayah Kenady
PORTLAND, Ore.— Sharayah Kenady of Salem, Ore., has signed to continue her education and join the Concordia University track and field team.
As a senior last season at Cascade High School, Kenady placed fourth in the discus and sixth in the shot put at the state 4A championships. She holds prep personal records of 38-1 in the shot and 125-0 in the discus while also competing in the javelin. As a junior she recorded a third-place finish in the discus at the state meet with a 113-0 toss and was also the Capital Conference champion with a 112-2 effort.
“Sharayah is a versatile athlete that will concentrate in the hammer but will also have the ability to score points at conference in the shot and discus,” Concordia assistant coach Mac Wilkins said.
Concordia will begin its fourth season as a varsity program in 2008-09. The Cavaliers have won three straight men's Cascade Collegiate Conference championships while the women have taken the last two league crowns. The Cavaliers have produced eight NAIA national champions and 27 All-Americans.
